the-owl is now chinaowl
It was time for a change. (The dash in the middle was starting to annoy me for some reason.)
Yes, China is my real name.
I might switch back if I end up not liking this one. :)

fifty books challenge update #30
DONE. DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE.
The last three books I read: Gregor the Overlander, In the Space Left Behind, and Black Tuesday.
Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins (author of The Hunger Games) is about a boy who follows his little sister through a grate in their laundry room and falls into an underground world filled with rats, roaches, spiders, and even a city of strange-looking humans....

Movie Mashup of the Day: Leandro “Copperfield” Braga of “Tarantino vs Coen Brothers” and “Kubrick vs Scorsese” fame spent 11 days re-watching all 11 Pixar feature films released to date in order to piece together this rather stellar mashup of over 500 hand-selected scenes.
Braga says:
Pixar’s films have always been very important in my life. I was 6 years old when I watched Toy...

um, hello new followers
Don’t know where you guys came from, but welcome! So glad you’re here.
A little bit about me:
I’m named after a country.
Yeah, that’s all you’re getting.
Okay, it starts with a C.
And it’s quite large.
I think that just gave it away.
Anyway. I’m eighteen, although some days it sure doesn’t feel like it. I live in the US of A....

fifty books challenge update #29
Another three down: Jinx, Click, and The Lost Hero.
I have a splitting headache right now so I’ll keep this very brief. (Have a fever right now too…blah, I would get sick on Christmas. >_<)
Jinx by Meg Cabot was meh. I usually like her books so I was way disappointed. The main character was so frustratingly naive and the whole magic/witchcraft aspect just didn’t appeal...

black swan
Such a great movie to see on Christmas Eve, right? To get in the mood for the holidays and all.
We initially planned on seeing the new Narnia movie. Tron and Tangled were options too. But, we settled on Black Swan.
(I have to mention that sitting in the row in front of us was an elderly Asian couple that my friend recognized from his church. I wonder what they thought of the movie….)

fifty books challenge update #28
Another three books finished! Twenties Girl, Blink, and The Red Pyramid.
Twenties Girl is a “ghost story” by Sophie Kinsella (most famous for her Shopaholic series) but it’s mostly chick lit. I tend to enjoy books like this, mostly because of the British humor and wit and all. But this one wasn’t quite as good as I’d hoped it’d be. It was a tad too ridiculous...

today was a very good day.
Woke up at half past seven to get to the DMV early, before every other teenager in the vicinity did the same.
Watched two girls before me fail the three-point turn test.
Did the three-point turn perfectly.
Passed my road test! But for one scary moment during the test I thought I wouldn’t pass, because the lady reprimanded the way I turn corners. Apparently I turn too slowly? But I...
